Need a Good Vet for my Cat

My wife and I finally made it to STT today with our dog and cat in tow. Of course my cat is already not feeling well and we need to find a good vet. Does anyone have any recommendations on who we should/should NOT go to?

Thanks,
Heff

Dr. Williamson in Frenchman's Bay is good with cats. Two friends of mine wouldn't go elsewhere. Dr. Moore in Red Hook is also good as far as cats go. Hope your kitty feels better.

Edited to add that Andy Williamson is grumpy but he's gone beyond the call of duty for all of my animals.

Ditto on Dr. Williamson...he has been awesome with our cats...one who is constantly having to go in for weird stuff! My husband wouldn't want to take a dog or cat anywhere else but him on island!

Cory - on STX I use Dr. Hess at Island Animal Clinic - he is great!

I agree! I love both Williamson on STT and Hess on STX.

Trade, Do you really think Williamson is that grumpy? I have heard it from the time I started looking for a vet years ago, but i have never witnessed it. We started using him after Napier left island, so maybe 6-8 years ago?

Oh, I know he is. I've had to spend a lot of time in his waiting room & have heard him yelling at the workers (the ones who've been there for a while just roll their eyes) & he's usually nagging me about how my dogs are spoiled while his receptionist says later, "like his dogs AREN'T spoiled?", and he says my littlest one is a wuss because she howled when she got a shot, etc. On the other hand, he's incredibly kind when it comes to a pup's final days. He goes overboard to save them. One that he had to put to sleep he told to "Go to sleep now" as he patted him & I held the dog's head. I had one that he wanted to watch overnight because she was doing so poorly so he took her home with him where she died.

His receptionist also told me he's always bringing leftover meat as treats for the dogs after hours. There are some who hate him but the rest of us are very loyal. I just wish he'd do something about the ticks & fleas in his boarding facility. I will say that the last time she stayed there, my dog didn't have any. I do wish Dr. Nappier hadn't left, though. He was also excellant.

I wish Nappier didn`t leave as well, my wife & I were VERY happy with him!
We have been using Dr. Saunders now, who agrees my cat was treated improperly, but has nothing bad to say about Williamson!
Williamson killed my cat, & I`ll never forgive him for that!
His office is VERY busy so, somethings get forgotten.
I guess when any of us are very busy, we make mistakes, too bad my cat died because of it!
