hello, my wife has aquired a job on a charter sailboat out of tortolla. she will be living on the boat 3 out of 4 weeks. that leaves me in need of housing and employment. i am hoping to find both on st. john, but am also open to st. thomas and st. croix. i currently am in a supervisor position with 66 employees, and have several years of sales experience. i am hoping to find a nice 1 br condo or apartment. this hopefully will be a long term move for us. If any of you have advice or information you think would be helpfull i would greatly appreciate it.

If your wife is working out of Tortola, then I don't think STX is your answer. It's 45 miles from here to there. The only way to get there year round is either the seaplane or Cape Air. During season, the fast ferry runs. Either way it can get expensive. If I were you I'd look hard at STJ and STT with STT probably being your best bet. Just my opinion.

Depending on your financial status, STT is less expensive than STJ. You may also find more job opportunities in STT as well. It depends on the type of atmosphere you want, as well. This time of year is a little harder to find employment, but you could try sending your resume to some of the hotels. Sales people are usually in desire starting around September/October, as that is when our season for tourism begins.

Hi,

Do you mind me asking what she is doing? and how she got that job?

I am also thinking about moving there and would like to work on charters.

I'm actually coming in "Aug for a premove visit and will be working on a boat cooking for 4 days as the sub chef.

Thanks, just curious.
