Need Jeep Bumper ASAP!

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I was naive enough to buy a 2005 Wrangler without a front bumper... something looked a little off, I was more concerned about mechanics. It didn't pass inspection yesterday and of course it's due by Mon. (What a frustrating wait twice at BMV... 47 people in the lobby one day). A police officer in the lobby said I could paint some "nice plywood" black to cushion as a fix, I'm sure that would work for him but I doubt I hold the same clout. I've tried the Jeep dealership, Santana's, Budget auto body...all on STT but I'll pay to have something shipped from STX. Anyone know of options, I'll even rent one if someone has a Jeep out of commission until I order one. Please spare me from Thanksgiving night spent in a ski mask with a wrench.

HELP!

cathy: From what you said yesterday, do you have an idea about what is wrong with the current bumper? Because replacing one with another that will fail isn't an option, right? Let's see W.W.EE.D.? Okay, there is that junkyard on Turpentine Run- I suspect they sell parts...Oh! I would contact Ronnie!! Ronnie knows cars! (tu)

Cut a piece of 3x8 or 3x6 treated lumber to length and buy some long carriage bolts. If you sand it a bit and paint it you'll be stylin'
That should pass inspection and serve as a decent bumper. I wouldn't use plywood.

For a used bumper try calling all the towing companies. They know where the wrecked vehicles are and many have them in junk yards. Surely there's a used Jeep bumper out there.

Another option is to send a "knowledgable" local with the paperwork and they'll return with your registration in less than an hour for about $50.
No muss, No fuss.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the quick replies! EE, the front bumper's gone! I guess I never looked at it closely... half of Colorado drives Jeeps, the rest drive Subaru's except little old me in my Miata (it got me to work in 20" of snow). Off to find the fix!

Oh, I didn't understand that. I thought they failed it because something was wrong with it. Didn't know that what was wrong with it was its invisibleness.. *-)
