Hello:
I will be moving to STX next week to teach at one of the High schools and would love to get a place to stay that is walking distance from central high. I am able to pay between 600 and 700 dollars.
Time is running out and I have no one in STX, so I am really in a desperate situation.

Thanks alot.

Central is on a main road, so you should not have trouble "commuting". Have you spoken to anyone at the school? Have you ever been to STX before? Living here without a car of some kind is very difficult. You might want to re-evaluate not buying a car.

You best bet is to plan on staying at a cheap hotel for a couple of weeks until you find something permanent.

Good luck

I would contact the school, and also post here with a caption indicating that you are a new teacher in need of assistance--there should be a network of sorts among the teachers. i know some of them would live in a particular area, close to each other and car-pool or whatever. Push on the administration..they've got to have some resources for you, even temporarily. There were lots of new folks this year, often from off-island

I sent you a private message. Contact me if you need assistance with available, safe housing in the price range that you are looking.

I've sent you a private message. Perhaps I could be of assistance. I have co-workers who have units. I am also a teacher in STX.
