I recently moved to St. Croix for work, and do not know the island all that well. I am looking to meet new people, and hopefully make some new friends. Can anyone recommend some good/safe places to meet people? I am in my late 20s. Any help would be much appreciated.

Christiansted on late nights..... Bongos, Club 54 on Company St., Parrot's Cove on the Boardwalk or Ft. Christian Brew Pub on the Waterfront.

Beaches! Hotel on the Cay on sunday is often a popular hang out for the 20 something crowd, lots of bartenders and waitstaff on their off days. During and around season there is usually a band. Cane Bay Beach always has a good mix of locals and tourists. Its always safe to go to a busy beach, just don't take anything valuable or leave anything valuable in the car, they will break in.

Parrot Cove is usually the busiest bar lately downtown. All the bars DL mentioned plus rumrunners, deck bar and angry nates. Even if you're not a drinker, there's usually a band at one or all of these and its where people go to hang out. There's not alot of choices. Poker used to be big at Bogeys on Monday and its usually a younger crowd. People are usually friendly. Park in a well light area when going downtown or north shore.

Volunteer. The animal shelters can always use help as can other organizations depending on what your interests are.

Go to Cane bay on the beach Sat and Sundays. Off the Wall beach bar same time for lunch.
There is a group that meets every week after dark Friday or Saturday night on the West end of Cane Bay beach. They party till dawn, I'm told.

C'stead late night is a good easy place to meet people. There are a lot of great people on island, and some you need to watch out for just like anywhere. If you are into football Sharkey's on Sunday is a good place to meet people. I'm 31, been here for about 5 years...PM me if you are looking to hang out sometime!

I'll be posting this soon as a separate thread:

Every Monday and Thursday on the front field of UVI we play a pickup game of Ultimate Frisbee. Co-Ed, all skill levels, all ages, not-too competitive, we are more there for fun and exercise.

We start about 5pm and play until dark, which lately has been about 6:30.

Should be a great way to meet folks if you like to throw and catch a disc.
