I've heard that you can find the New York Times on Sunday or the Miami Herald but I've never seen these newspapers anywhere. Do only high-end hotels get them?

I have learned to live with the NYTimes online but there is never a time that I pass up the opportunity to make an airport pickup here on Sun/Mon and have them bring me the Sun. Times as payback.

Many years ago there was an entrepreneurial person here on St Thomas who brought in the Sunday NY Times and sold it. I haven't seen it since she left. 🙁

Maybe that's a good job for an entrepreneurial young person on St Croix...;)

Same used to be true on STX, she left and no one stepped in to fill the need.

It would be tough to get the Sunday New York Times on St Croix, I think but it shouldn't be a problem on St Thomas with daily flights to/from JFK. Same for the Miami Herald. I would imagine the Ritz Carlton on St Thomas must have a proper Sunday newspaper? I'd give anything -- well, not anything -- but the print edition of the Wall Street Journal or New York Times on a Sunday morning. Financial Times, too.

I believe she brought the paper down to St Thomas and then put them on the seaplane to St Croix. It wouldn't have to come from NY; it could come from Miami, couldn't it?

They were always the early edition so published on Sat evening--they came to STX on the Eagle, not sure if from STT or SJU

How many people on STX would buy it if it were available?

You would need to determine the cost, as I recall the NY Times was very expensive.

Maybe it would help ease your boredom to embark upon a serious market research survey to examine the feasibility of hopping onto a stateside-bound 'plane once a week to pick up and return with the newspapers. That way you could kill two birds with one stone - hang out for an evening in the places where single young white and bastard-free women congregate (and maybe make a few hookups who'd even come and visit you on STX), and get your "real" newspaper fix at the same time. If you could raise enough regular customers, the whole exercise could be paid for and may even be profitable.

How about forming a Sunday Times Paper Pool? One person has it overnighted. You have two hours to read it. Then you have to pass it on to the next pool member. Of course you'll need to do the crossword puzzle in pencile. And erase it all when you're done.

Scubadoo: Yes, as Oldie said, it was in the early to mid 90s. There was a time before the internet changed everything. 😉

If I can find 20 people on STT willing to pay $50 a paper copy for Sunday NYT I can get this started. Let's have a show of hands of these addicted to paper.

Sorry the savings isnt available for you.
Paying $50 a paper sounds like a serious addiction.

You may wish to seek professional help with that!

It is a harmless addiction. Perhaps too much of that liberal propaganda can get to your head. I can include WSJ for counterbalance.

I'd pay $12, which is a 100% markup for the Sunday New York Times delivered by Sunday evening.
