Deb is taking the Job at UVI. We will be on island in seven weeks or a little less. We have an apartment worked out in a friends house for six months, its furnished and we are only bringing clothes, until we decide if we are buying a boat, a condo, or just renting for a while. I know it's been asked a million times. Who has the best on line banking, a good insurance company? Any other info that I have missed. Current shipping costs for a vehicle. I think we are going to buy one there, (island car) and I will likely ship a small truck.

Congrats! No more trip reports, you'll be living here instead!
I myself, like Banco Popular the best! Have never had any problems with them at all. Can't tell you how much it is to ship a vehicle now, used to be $800, but that was a looooong time ago!

Good for you Cap. I agree with Sherri about Banco Popular. As far as insurance, J&J insurance, west end across from entrance to airport road. Shipping cost for an american made truck will prob be about 2K including tarrifs and road tax etc. Would not suggest a non-american made vehicle, the additional tarrifs could cause shipping costs (not really shipping cost but customs release) to double. Good Luck!

On STX, I usually recommend First Bank... and to set up an account at the Orange Grove branch for the best customer service. I don't know where all the branches are on STT.

First Bank works best for a lot of people on STX because they have more branches on the island and others scattered around the Caribbean (including STT) if you island hop at all. They have online banking with Bill Payer and they also have the broadest hours for being open. The Sunny Isle branch on STX is open until 6 PM most weekdays and has some hours of operation on Saturday morning. Many banks here close by 3 PM on weekdays with no Saturday hours. Someone from STT might know if any of the First Bank branches there have evening and Saturday hours. I suspect that they do.

First Bank has an insurance branch, also, although I use Marshall & Sterling at Gallows Bay on STX.
