Good day...I am a 52yr old RN looking to move to St Croix or St Thomas. What's it like to work in the hospital's there? Are the other nurses open to newcomers? I've spent so many hours on the internet looking for info. Would love the scoop on pay, rentals, work environment...anything and everything. Thanks...Lynne

Lynne, My girlfiend has her B.S.N. and will begin work at The Roy Lester Schneider (RLS) Hospital on STT in Sept. Can't tell you much about it, but I will update this post when she starts. Gary

To all the RNs: The hospital (while needing you very much!) isn't the only spot for RN work. The schools, home health, skilled nursing, the Dept of Health clinics, Human Services, private doctor's offices...all need qualified RNs and LPNs. Hurry up!

My plan right now is to go to the Islands as a traveler, a great way to get to know a place and see if it will work for me...and they pay for travel and housing. Everyone who's contacted me loves it there! I have a friend going to St Thomas next month with her boyfriend...both are travel RN's. I'm hoping to be there in November. I'm open to any jobs that are available to RN's. This site has been great...lot's of info and I thank you....Lynne

Any info on how to search for RN jobs other than the hospitals? I'd love to see what other options there are!

Well, to start...Seaview Home Health: 340-775-1660, Seaview Nursing and Rehab- 340-777-3303, Dept of Education 340-774-0100, Dept of Health 340-774-0117 (that is the commissioner's office- might need to get additional help.) Private physicians would take being here and looking around. There is a new doctor's office building, some of the docs have increased the size of their offices. You will run into the same thing about not wanting to deal with you until they know you are here, but at least you can get an idea. BTW, this is all for St Thomas- let St Croix get their own!! 😉

My husband just took a travel position with Nova Pro. They have been very professional and fair. His contact is Kristen Ricci. They are willing to negotiate housing etc. He is starting Oct 3rd. Good luck!
