I will be moving to STT after the winter holiday, probably right before new years so I can spend new years @ JVD! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of any new nursing opportunities on the island. I plan on working at the hospital, but would be interested in working in a school or clinic if the opportunity is available. I am a pediatric nurse at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (gen peds/neuro). Anyone with ideas, I would appreciate the response. Thanks!

A friend was a public health nurse before she retired & was based in the pediatric ward at the Hospital. You might contact here & they might steer you in the right direction:

Phone: 340- 774-0117 or 340- 773-6551

kat: The one problem with the Health Dept is that they are not very techno-savvy, if that is a word. You probably won't be able to contact them over the Internet. They probably won't return phone calls. But if you are taking a position at Schneider, you will be able to network easily. The schools are always begging for nurses, but partly because their pay scale is extremely low. Believe me, if you are here and you are good, you will hear of other work.

Thanks for the reply, actually public health is my passion! I would love to become involved in health promotion activities in the community, especially with the youth. I will definately be contacting them. Thanks again!
