Hey guys,

Looking to hop off island for about a week. I don't care where. Looking for a great deal- something all inclusive. Can anyone recommend any good deals? Looking to spend under 2k total for 2 people.

Thanks so much!

Riu Americain in Cancun was a great deal and a nice place to stay when I went there a few years back.

How about a cruise - we love them ( we stay onboard when we pull into port and practically have the ship to ourselves) Not quite AI as you have to buy drinks but the food is amazing and as much as you want 🙂

Celebrity is my line of choice in the "normal" price range (actually will only cruise with Celebrity)

Riu is great but my favorite in that part of the world is Privilege on Isla Mujeres. Not sure if you are looking for something quiet but this very quiet, all inclusive and a charming little island with great diving. Also, they generally upgrade your room once you arrive. We ended up with a balcony the size of my house and private pool overlooking Cancun. There are great little bistros in town (which is walking distance). By far the best part is cruising around the whole island in a golf cart.

Some nice deals to the Dominican Republic. We did Punta Cana.

The cost to fly to Punta Cana from St Croix was pricey and if you choose you had to go to Miami, and than to Punta Cana.

We saved half the money by flying into Santo Domingo. Took taxi from Airport to hotel, Marriot in downtown Santo Domingo, which was near embassies and walking distance to nice Italian Café and restaurant.

The second day we took a public bus to Punta Cana for $10. It was air condition and had TVS, the ride was about 7 hours, but was cool as we drove thru the towns and many scenic areas.

The bus dropped off right in front of our resort, which was all inclusive to include drinking and food for about $75 dollars.

We returned to the Marriot the night before we left, and again walked to (1/2 mile at best) to the Italian restaurant and café, wine, antipasto for appetizer , dinner, and dessert came to about $50 dollars for two.

Check out Cheap Caribbean for some deal to the DR.

Good luck, If you want more specific information on hotels, bus info, PM me and I will dig it out and send.

Punta Cana is the choice for several people I know. The DR has awesome deals and great flights out of PR to get you there.

I second a cruise. I cruised a lot in years past and enjoyed some of the best vacations of my life enjoying brief stays on other Caribbean islands - many of which I subsequently visited for longer periods later on for a more in depth experience! As far as the DR is concerned I wouldn't go back there if offered a freebie!

Depending on when you were looking to leave and if you have a place on St. Thomas house swapping might be an option if you wanted to go to central Florida and visit the theme parks like Universal, Disney, Sea World or Bush Gardens. House could include vehicle as well and located within 25 miles of Orlando in a quaint small town. The only expenses would be flight, food, theme park tickets and gas:)

Jet Blue has a daily mid-morning flight to Punta Cana from San Juan that takes about 45 minutes.

Another vote for a cruise.

You can cruise from San Juan all the way down to Barbados...

Cruise $440 (taxes incl) and $140 round trip flight Stx-Sju.

Not totally all inclusive, but close.
