Booked my PMV for late March. Staying in Sapphire Beach in a condo there. I am going to be looking for jobs at several hotels that I've been in contact with as well as a business, so hopefully I'll have promising news upon my return stateside. I wanted to get recommendations on several things:

Areas to live? Is traffic an issue if I live across the island from work?
Grocery Stores/Produce Stands to visit?
Retail stores/furniture stores/Electronic stores?

I'm really going to make an effort to live as if I was there and try not to get distracted and act like a tourist...

Any suggestions and/or advice are greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!

most of the hotels and resorts are on the east end, and so is sapphire so you may be able to avoid commuting into downtown...

there is a great produce stand across from the v.i. national park entry, just beyond red hook (american yacht harbour)... stay on that road to the food center, there is a gas station right next door to it.

gourmet goodies and more groceries at marina market (red hook).

there is a kmart and a number of furniture stores, higher end in red hook, fort mylner...

get a copy of the island trader, it's free and is published each thursday wherever daily news sold. it comes with if you buy the paper.
lots of events, current sales and a bit of island news for ya.

have a good visit!
