Hi All,
We are looking for a one month rental on St. Thomas from mid to late December-mid to late January. Does not have to be a resort, but swimming pool, A/C, TV, and some ammenities would be nice.

I don't know about A/C being that needed with the Christmas winds or whether these place have it but Villa Blanca has a pool as does http://www.islandviewstthomas.com/

You might also check VRBO for a monthly rental. Christmas is the priciest time, by the way.

Oops, Villa Blanca does have A/C. Here's another that might work but do check VRBO.

Have the guys check the Island Trader for you. There are frequently advertisements for short-term spaces for visiting friends and family.

Check www.stthomasvirginisland.com no A/C but that time of year you really don't need it. There is a swimming pool and a view.

Evan,
My old landlord has a condo at Saphire you might shoot her an email and check on availability.

I have stayed there for a week before it is a real nice one bedroom A/C, washer and dryer overlooking the marina.

I live on St. Croix now, but liked Villa Blanca on St. Thomas when I stayed there for a week a few years ago. It was the first place I stayed when I came to the VI. It is half-way up on a steep hill, clean, comfortable, and no-frills nice. They have a little kitchenette area, too, with some burners if you want to cook, and there were pots and plates. You get coffee and some bagels for breakfast in a bag on your door every morning. You should ask for one of the second floor rooms. The family that runs it is very nice.

The only issue I had was that the downtown taxi drivers did not want to take me up the hill back to the place, so I got on a $2 safari bus, but it was a bad adventure as to which bus went where and getting off. When I asked for help from the locals I was flat out ignored. An old lady told me to just get on the bus like I knew what I was doing and don't ask for help, and I would be fine! There is a little buzzer on the bus that I guess you ring when you want off. When it's crowded, it's hard. I learned the more aggressive stomp their feet on the ground and shout. I just really did not want to do that....Hopefully you will have a car., because it is a little ways uphill from downtown. Walked it once, but the roads were CURVY and not a good idea with the traffic.

Thanks everyone, a rental car is mandatory, so no worries there. Capt. Jay will check out your referral. Pineapple Village PM'd me, looks like a very nice place as well. The boys are doing well living up on the north side. They have not got Internet or TV hooked up yet. So far loving island life.

Eastender, you are out of touch with college and the internet. Without internet at home, you would have to go to school and do your homework, most classes are internet bases. And what about Facebook, My space, it's not an option it is a life style. As to TV, the NFL starts in a few weeks, ESPN, MTV, I'm not being mean, just a reality check. 🙂

It is an option - and it is only a lifestyle if you choose it.
