ELECTRONICS Vendors who will ship to the VI via Priority mail:

B & H Photo (who ROCK!) for cameras and most computer peripherals AND SOFTWARE! (Also they accept trade-ins so you may be able to get a $bit for your old stuff if it's in good shape)
Crutchfield (Mike's Electronics in Peter's Rest bases his line and pricing against them, so he's worth a look too if you're in a hurry)
J and R Music for just about anything--I've bought two laptops from them no problem.

Happy Holidays

Williams Sonoma has a nice bread machine which I bought several years ago and they shipped via mail for a reasonable cost. Also J and R mentioned above offers a few choices in bread makers.

just a side note, you can google "store name coupon code free shipping" and usually find a code to get free shipping. I have looked up coupon codes to receive a percentage off or free shipping. You just have to spend a couple minutes looking. I got 10% off my entire trip on orbitz by doing this.

aquaponics,
Try QVC. They have several to choose from and reasonable shipping. If they don't have the one you want, try HSN. I shop both all the time, and I love them. If you buy from HSN, use a physical address, if you can. P.O. Box shipments are slow. I don't have that problem with QVC.

Thanks Juanita, do you use QVC online? I don't have tv so never thought they were an option. Same for HSN, do they sell online also?

Sorry for the stupid questions...

Hey everyone! Just to let yall know that when we get our thrift store up and running in FEB that we are gonna be offering a "personal shopper service". We have arranged several different shoppers around the country that will be buying for us (and you) and shipping things to us as we need them. We will take specific orders on items and have them shipped to our store for you to pick up.
So keep that in mind. i will keep eveyone updated on our store location and opening date.

PS I guess if anyone needs anything at the moment I could shop for you while im still in the states, I take paypal and will charge 15% handling fee + shipping.

I bought my bread machine a couple of years ago from Cooking.com and absolutely LOVE it! I did some research to find the best brand, I found that "Zojirushi" is the best; great reviews.I ordered mine thru cooking.com and at the time it was just under $200.00, now it looks like it's around $215 ... totally worth it, mine has paid for itself several times over, I use it constantly. They ship via USPS, which I prefer; I paid around $40 to have it shipped here. I've also ordered other stuff from them; Calphalon cookware arrived USPS express ... very, very happy with their service.

If you haven't purchased a bread machine yet, I highly recommend this one. I can share a recipe for "Herb and Crunch Wheat Bread" that is wonderful ... I make a loaf every week ... YUM! 🙂

Enjoy!
~Jill

Regarding electronics, last week I broke my laptop - broken screen from dropping it ... *&%$. Thought about replacing the screen by ordering a new one and trying to wrestle with that, but decided not to go through the hassle ... needed a laptop quick. I ordered a new one through tigerdirect.com on Monday and received it on Thursday via 'overnight' 😉 delivery. Their normal shipping is via UPS, which I don't care for, but I was happy to skip the hassles, pay more for UPS and get my laptop almost overnight! 😀 I have previously ordered from them and had stuff sent via USPS ... it can be done, but I was in a hurry and willing to pay more. I've had good experiences with them, and also bad ... it's sometimes a crap shoot. This last one was good, I'll shop with them again next time.

Thanks Jill and Juanita! I haven't purchased yet but did narrow it down to the model you suggested Jill! You girls are great for helping!! we are pretty good with the recipes, but I'll take you up on the "Herb and Crunch Wheat Bread" recipe once mine arrives.....

on another online topic, a friend posted on FB today that BESTBUY now ships to the VI....I looked at their site and they indeed do have VI listed in the pulldown menu. I did a quick add to the cart to see what happened and I got a do not ship this item to this site notice...so, like amazon, maybe they are shipping some items and maybe not some?? Worth a look if you are shopping for electronics though.

@ thwolf24, have you found that those coupons work for the USVI? I have never found one that worked for shipping here, even when USPS shipping was no more expensive than to anywhere else in the States (grr).

Good to know, CAtoSTX. The only "coupons" I've ever had work have been from CVS.com (which someone pointed out will no longer ship to the USVI if your CC billing address is here). And, it sounds like Drugstore is offering the same promotions as CVS.

QVC prices for shipping is outrageous - it cost just about as much as the products. (I was trying to order Lock & Lock)

Does anyone know how to get cheaper shipping from QVC ?

I've always fround QVC shipping to be about the same as everyone else, but they quite often offer free shipping. Sometimes they have special promotions where EVERYTHING for the day is free shipping. Dixie Chick mentioned that too, I think. That's a great time to shop. It is still free, even to the VI. I particularly like their 30 day return policy. By the way, if you return it, they also refund your shipping. You DO have to pay for shipping it back, which is usually less. When shopping online, it's great to know that if you don't like it, or it doesn't fit, or whatever, they take it back, no problem.

This is what I mean --- from QVC ---

Lock & Lock 3-piece Bread Box, Bacon & Egg Storage Set Clear
Price $17.32

The only shipping options I get are:

Offshore Non Priority 14.22
Offshore Priority 23.72

Suzette,
I just checked that item. I placed the order up to the point of "clicking" submit. The shipping was $6.22 to St. Croix. Your $23.72 figure is just .02 off from the total for the item and the shipping included. Maybe that's what you're seeing or were you ordering additional items at the same time?
