Does anyone know what the small orange berries are? They appeared on a small tree in the yard and are about the size of a marble. Just under half inch diameter. Very juicy and have a round brown pit inside.

If they are the ones I'm familiar with they are called red cherry or Chinese cherry or West Indian Indian cherry. The tree is more like a bush. They start out green, turn orange and then red and they have a pit. they have a unique flavor. I eat them. I'm still alive.
When again I see my wise old Crusian gardener again I'll try to get the rest of the story
