nice move bombi......we seem to get caught up in our work etc. and forget those moments 8 years ago. i am downtown now waiting for the parade to go by. i also have my bracelet on given to me by a N.Y. fireman with the name of fireman lost on that day. he was never found.
lets just all pray that we never ever have to experience anything like that again.

i will not forget EVER watching CNN that morning and talking to a friend on the phone and thinking what the heck.........then we all knew what happened. it was a day i dont think turned off their tv sets. and i think i held my breath the whole day. and several days after.

the memorial service that was held at the gazebo at the fort was so soothing. holding hands with a stranger and everyone crying but coming together.......it took a disaster to bring us together......

and days after hearing the jets fly over st. croix protecting our refinery and ports. Still holding my breath thinking about it.......

wow dixiechick, i guess since i wasnt here i didnt really think about the affect it had on people down here. i was in marathon florida working at a bank and watching it on the news. later i found out a few of our customers lost loved ones in the attacks. i dont remember any memeorial services in the keys either. what a wonderful community spirit here. it took us years before we could watch the united movie about the plane crash in pa. i still tear up thinking about the events of that day.

I was remodeling a condo on Rye Beach in NH listening to WBCN radio that was known for on air pranks. At first we didn't believe it but then all the sirens at the NUke plant in Seabrook went off. What an empty feeling I had. I immediately called my family to make sure no one was flying. Cell service was wedged. No one I knew was there but it changed my life and my perception of safety.
It was a wake up call for all of us. I feel for everyone who was affected and hope we never have to go through that again. My gratitude to all who helped to save lives and lost theirs. Never again.

When i was flying out of Philly this past sunday morning on U.S. Air. I looked around the plane and thought to myself......this is maybe what those people were doing.....reading the newspaper, looking at magazines, thinking about the day ahead. Little did they know what the day ahead was to bring. I tried to put myself in their place, and what i would have done. of course things have changed so much now. we feel safer flying, but it took that tragic day to make it so.

Bombi i was really proud of how the people on this island bonded together and cried together. strangers holding strangers hand. Everyone hugging each other. i think then even the crime stopped for awhile.

The parade just passed downtown. I wish that there had been more participation...A few firetrucks, ambulances and ROTC and vets.
but it is a workday

Personally i think it should be a goverment day of rememberance. not called a holiday but a day off so people can not party and picnic but truly remember. (my opinion)
