If you don't know about the story, I'm sure someone here can summarize I'm too disgusted....my question is simply, HOW many scrap dealers are on St. Croix? How hard would it be to investigate those dealers to figure out where a two ton chunk of copper was sold...we don't have a foundry here it has either left the island through them or its sitting in their yard now? Where are the Hardy Boys when you need them to solve this freakin mystery.

I doubt it's here anymore.

I would guess that someone with a big powerful boat took it to PR. The copper didn't need to be melted, just flattened/pounded.

We have had PR metal scrappers here on island, so someone would know where and who to sell it to on PR so lang as they got it there.

This news is so sad.

Wes Small correlated the junk and abandoned vehicles in the area to the story. What IF our government actually got out in the field and cleaned up areas that promote dumping?

I didn't notice any reports of torched/scarred areas where they found the still, just torched remnants.

So much to question, and so sad that there is even a need to question.

Still don't know how anyone had the 'copper' enough to pull off such a heist without being noticed. Why not go after something smaller, like the Hope Diamond? :}

That's the same thing that was in the AVIS story; they said 7 private homes had an unobstructed view.
