Good day! I am thinking of relocating to STX, and I would like to purchase a condo. Are there any pet-friendly condos? Are they in nice areas? I have a medium-sized dog. Any tips are appreciated!

Try contacting a realtor. One on St. Croix (Alexandra) who posts here is very helpful. You'd be better off renting when/if you move here before buying to see which area would suit you best.

There are about 5 or 6 that will allow you to have one dog. Most of them do not allow it or have changed their rules to no longer allow them. So it will greatly limit your buying pool if what you want is a condo. Most of them are in avg to nice areas, the cheapest ones I believe are Ocean Terrance which are small and start at around $250k plus your condo fees of coarse, which are high here as most on STX do include hurricane insurance.

Other pet-friendly condos I know of include: Saman, Sweet Lime, Plantation, Coakley Bay, Questa Verde, Caribbean View, Gentle Winds.

Most have a size and/or quantity restriction. Just how large is your "medium sized" dog?

Caribbean View condos on the market are priced at $88,822 and $102,888 or are available at a package price for the two at $172,888 and do not have size restrictions on the dogs. Their condo fees are $425 per month and include hurricane insurance, hot and cold water, propane gas, satellite tv, terminix, mailboxes and there are dumpsters and a laundry room on-site... so it IS possible to find an affordable condo if you are a pet owner.

Other pet-friendly condos are more expensive, but in very nice areas if price isn't a limiting factor.

Thanks for your responses. My "medium-sized" dog is 45-50 pounds. I do need to consider price when looking at condos, unfortunately. I tried to find some information about Caribbean View but was pretty unsuccessful. Where are the condos located? I am somewhat familiar with the island. I actually live on STT, and one of the reasons that I am looking to relocate to STX is housing costs. Thanks again!

Caribbean View is located just southeast of Judith's Fancy and a few miles west of downtown Christiansted. To locate the complex, turn north on route 751 from the northside road. Take second paved road to the right (third paved right goes to St. C's condos or if you don't turn at all you reach the guard gate for Judith's Fancy straight ahead). Then take first paved road to the left, just prior to the junior high school. Condo complex is about a block up on the left. Peach colored buildings.

Caribbean View doesn't have a size limit on dogs, so you wouldn't have anything to worry about there.
