Does anone know of any apartments, condos, houses, etc for rent that will allow animals? We are planning on moving to stt and have 2 very well trained boxers. I am having trouble finding anything on line. Does anyone have any advice?

You'd need to come for a pre-move visit & nail that down before you get here. You'll have a much tougher time with 2 larger dogs. However, others have done it but I'd get it settled before you get here.

I have 4 dogs and move down here with 3 so I know how tough it can be to find a place to live on the islands. I live in stx but this is what i had to do. I found a hotel that would allow me to have them and then I found a place once I was here. Trying to find a place even without dogs and not being here is extremely hard. Private landlords and management companies want to see that you really are here before renting to you as well. So many people say they are coming and never do, so it ruins it for the rest of the people that do come.

Betty,

If you don't mind me asking, which hotel allowed your dogs? We're still hoping to move to St. Croix in the next year or so, and we will be bringing two Labs.

Thanks

There were several....we ending up staying with cottages b/c they had a large fenced yard attached to one of the cottages....The cottages there are not luxury units by any means but they have full kitchens an incredible beach and a friendly family that runs the place. Now this is at least 3 years ago but the places that allow us to bring the dogs were pink fancy, and divi and there were a few vacation houses as well but none of them had a fenced yard and for us that was important. We also came during the slowest time of the year....hurricane season 🙂 Be prepared to wheel and deal, be pushy in a nice way and call people back when they don't call u back.

Looking for a pet friendly apartment in STT. I have 3 Dachshunds that are like my kids. Couldn't stand to move with out them. I know this will make it tougher, but my husband and I are up for the challenge!!

I saw the posting for the cottages. Wasn't sure if they were on STT. Is there a website?

It is www.caribbeancottages.com but it is in stx as texas girl said she wanted the info in her post above mine 🙂 I would assume you will run across most of the same problems here that you will there. Like most of the condos here do not allow dogs period, so it really narrows down your choices to houses, apartments attached to houses and guest houses. At least your dogs are small which should be in your favor to the amount of damage they could cause in a landlords eye. I would really plan on finding a place for the short term to find your place for the long term. Good Luck.
