Pet Supplies in STT? A question for cat owners.

Hello,

I recently moved here and am wondering where the best place for cat supplies is on island. In particular, I am looking for the recyled pine or newspaper pellet litter like Feline Pine or Yesterday's News, and Nutro or Max Cat food. I just called a pet supply place that doesn't sell cat litter (?), so I am starting to think this is one of those specialty items I will have to order. Any ideas? I'd even go to St. John for it.

Thanks in advance!

I don't no of any place, but if you find one or a distributor please share the news. My kitties used to be on Nutro in Sf and they loved it. They are currently on IAMS (Kmart) but I am supposed to be boycotting them.

Dear Feetfirst,

Live with what you can get!

Onika - IAMS should indeed be boycotted! And I'm surprised that you haven't researched what's been going on where this company is concerned.

The American Humane Society has boycotted their goods, as have innumerable stateside Humane Societies - including The Humane Society of St Thomas and countless shelter

The IAMS corporation has been charged with some very serious violations where animals and testing thereof are concerned. Pretty sick!

OK done,cheers!

I know, I know...what are you feeding your kitties?

I felt like my choices were Purina (which they rightly turned their noses up at) or IAMS (which has horrible testing policies).

Help/Suggestions?

I get Science Diet for our kitties from our vet (Tripp Stewart at Imperial Animal Hospital- who we think is marvelous!).

You can also get Science Diet at Black Ice- the dog food for sure- haven't checked for kitty food.

Best,

LR

Thanks everyone! I was going to ask the same question. I have two cats I'm bringing down soon. I use the crystals litter and Science Diet.

Thanks!
Jenny

Being a multi-cat household (two large litter boxes both cleaned 2X daily!) I've found KMart has pretty much the best deals and choices, while that goes for the large bags of cat biscuits too. Being on a limited budget and feeding not only the inside cats but the outside ones too, they get what they're given and if they decide they want to turn their noses up at the flavour of the week then that's too bad... Suffice it to say that with the exception of one very old cat who has problems, the rest are very glossy-coated and healthy! Most of the local vets carry Science Diet as do most of the specialty pet stores.

Hi STT Resident-

Thanks for the good advice about Kmart. I did stroll through quickly and it seemed they had a huge selection. I say "had", because most was out of stock- tee-hee! I'll check back when the kitty is out of supplies- we packed a 2 huge bags of food. etc. in the car trunk.

My cat relieves its self out side and eats purina from K-Mart. I also have two pit bulls that eat Pedigree. Just teach your cat to crap outside and feed it whate is available. Problem solved.
