In the May 2006 edition of Caribbean Travel & Life magazine there is a short article on Pets from Paradise on STX. This is a cooperative effort between the STX Animal Welfare Center and shelters on the mainland, primarily on the east coast, to save many of the homeless animals on STX.
You don't have to do a thing - the shelter will arrange for the pooch/kitty to be delivered to the airport and do the paperwork, and someone will be meeting you at your destination. They have arrangements with a number of shelters, but I couldn't find the list on their website right now www.pets-from-paradise.com Phone 340.642-0621. If you travel frequently up the east coast or are a vacatoner, please take the time to contact them and see if you can help. They also take donations 🙂
It's an endeavor well worth the small effort you put forth in helping to reduce the number of abandoned and unwanted animals left to fend for themselves. Thanks for your help.
