I'm interested in hiring a photographer out of STT to go to our vacation house on Water Island and take pictures so we can refresh our web site. Anyone have any recommendations? We have a Property Manager who can meet them at the WI ferry landing and take them up to the house/property and back to the ferry landing when they're finished.

Buy the property manager a digital camera and snap away.

Well, good idea. We've been taking pictures of the interior/exterior with our camera. However, we're amateurs and in taking our own pictures, we don't have that "eye" and don't always "see" the first impression that we're delivering....and maybe not a good first impression. We've made a lot of improvements and updates to the home and property since our last web photo. (The last photo shoot was done by a friend of ours who is a semi-profesional photog who we invited to stay with us. He took those pics currently on our web site. He's now too busy with his flourishing business and we can't/don't want to impose on him again.) We prefer (for pics that go on the web site) to have professional using wide angle lens especially for the interior shots. I've received one contact name who might be able to do the work though she's been recovering from dengue fever......checking to see if she's up to the task now.

I wonder if rotorhead can get you outdoor shots from his helo? The photos that he posted of the contessa's place on STX are spectacular.

rotorhead is a member of this forum... you could PM him by finding one of his posts (use the search tool above and search for "rotorhead").

Or, I think this link will get you to some of his posts:

Thanks for the shout out ya'll! I would have loved to pop over but I see it's an old post. FWIW a point and shoot is not a substitute for a professional photographer ESPECIALLY for property photos which require special lenses for whole room shots. I literally loled. Property & jewelry photography are the toughest. Lots of amazing photgraphers on the islands and we all have our own style so it's really important to pick a photog that you like their style.

I couldn't agree more, She is fantastic at photography. To me, it's always best to bring in a professional photographer when you want great pictures. I for one can't take pictures worth a hoot. No matter how expensive a camera I use.
