picnic spot on STT

Good night everyone,

This is more of a tourist board question, I realize, but since I don't hang out on the tourist boards, thought I'd check here first:

I've got a group of friends visiting STJ, and they're getting into the STT airport around lunchtime. I don't know STT well enough to know where to look for something like this: I was thinking of getting sandwiches and having a picnic lunch ready, so they could have food in hand pretty fast after arriving. But I don't know where to go for a picnic spot.

Is there some overlook or a beach area with shade and safe parking (all the luggage will be in the car) that's along the way from the airport to Red Hook, that would be good?

Many thanks for the input.

Yes, there's a little park, Lindberg Bay Park, just as you exit the airport. It's on the right just a bit past the booth where you pay. Picnic tables tables and views of the water. No food concession, but you can get take out at Atlantic Seafood Restaurant which is just across the airport parking lot. Sigh. Should I post photo of the park? Parking is right there or along the roadside.

There is a West Indian food van alongside Airport Road, where you can buy homemade fruit juices. They also have soda and other drinks.
Their food is very good and they are busy.

There are a couple picnic tables right on the beach in the shade. You can park alonside the road. The walk isn't that far.
They are by the new lifeguard stands and restroom/dressing facilities.

I second Lindbergh Bay Park; very convenient, nice view and atmosphere, and you can sit in sight of your car.

Don't feed the iguanas if you don't want lots of company, LOL!

Best,

My favorite spot would be Brewers Bay by the airport. You can watch the airplanes land and take off. Nice Bathrooms with changing area to get in those beach clothes !! on UVi campus. Lunch wagon there , no tables..take a blanket. Or our favorite place is Iggy's to stop for a burger on the way to Red Hook. Great beach vibe to get started and cold Carib's!!

Thank you all! I had thought about Brewer's but wasn't sure about leaving the car there unattended. Definitely will check out the park.
