It's all been said. While the RE market is swinging back up sales are still lengthy, even in the preferred locations. As long as you are OK with the possibility of a long sale, whether condo first and then house, or house to house, or right into forever house and you work out all the numbers for that it sounds like you'll do OK.

Villa Madeleine condos all have private pool, all on the ground, and high on the hill, under $400k. And yes, high HOA fees.

Colony Cove has great sale prices and even though the Condo fees are high, because
the complex is waterfront, it includes a hurricane insurance, satellite TV, free phone includes local calls and free Wi-Fi.
It has swimming pool, gate to the beach. Barbecue by the pool.

It is important to ask what the condo fees include.
