Thanks, Linda. Hmmm, that's very interesting that it lasts forever. Maybe I'll get some to have on hand. I think I've only had it once, and I wasn't too crazy about it, but in a storm, it might taste better!

Now let me Wiki Dr Pepper. I'm fron the south, too, and in our region, Coca-Cola was the soda king.

To bring the subject back to the VI, does anybody have a favorite local/native drink? It's hard for me to name a favorite among hibiscusade, sorrel, limeade, tamarind, and passionfruit. Just wish they were more readily available.

I OD on Passion Fruit Juice made by Dairy (I think it is Dairy Farms? I know the carton when I see it.) everytime I am on island. YUMMMM.

Then, there is fresh coconut milk. Yep, just take the coconut, open, pour over ice. Some add a little gin. I like mine just over ice. 🙂

Just a few more months.

Zigmo,

Everytime this question is asked, it inevitably turns to favorite foods. Not too many people are actually naming "items". That's because we can get pretty much whatever we need. You may have to substitute a brand or settle for something a little different because what you want is out of stock, but it's part of living here.

One thing most people would not think of is winter clothes. You might just need a sweater here every once in a while, but when you go back to visit for Christmas, or anytime in the winter, you will need them. I keep just a small suitcase of winter clothes stowed away, and it comes in handy occasionally.

Happy packing!

Winter clothes! That's a great suggestion, Juanita. I have mine stored away, too. Probably should check them to see if they're still wearable. People think it's weird that I have a raincoat/all-weather coat, but if you decide to go anywhere outside the Caribbean, you're probably going to need one.

Now if I could just get my mind off Stateside food... Sigh. My life for a huge burrito with rice, beans, chicken, tomatoes, sour cream, lettuce, fresh salsa, etc!

Winter clothes are good for plane rides, too, even if you're just going to Florida. On my last flight back here from Phoenix, in August, I brought my winter coat for the reason Juanita mentioned, and I was SO glad I had it on the plane! I also slept under it at the airport for a few hours.

We keep a box of winter clothes at our son's house in Kentucky. Shoes too.
