what is the best way to acquire a portable air conditioning unit and dehumidifier in the us vi?
can these items be shipped in a vehicle ?

would it be too costly to ship in a container with other household items due to weight?
can these be purchased reasonably on island or PR?
or
should we wait for second hand items to become available?

You might not need either depending on how your place is situated & what island you're on. On the north side of STT you might need a dehumidifier but it's cooler there so you might not need a/c. I don't have either & never have. Also, you need to consider the electricity costs of running a/c.

The portable AC's don't work worth a damn, and with the high cost of WAPA, probably not worth having.

Its not hard to put in a permant one window ac. Most windows here are made out of slats and come out easily. I didnt find the price of a/c's bad here and found energy efficient ones as well. And usually you just need one in the bedroom.

Betty,
I Iike the idea of a window unit for the unbearable days
Terry had a fantastic point about sticking it out without a/c so the ocean could be heard
all the input is very helpful
