You have to call the various post offices to see if the have vacancies.
Sugar Estate, Frenchtown, Tutu Park all, and downtown, CA.

It's a box, and not a PO Box, but we switched from a PO Box to a Box at Barefooot Buddha in Havensight 6 months ago and are very happy about it. Eliminates those "No PO Boxes" issues in shipping too.

What does that cost you annually?

I was hoping to eliminate calling. I have a private box now, but heard some post office has boxes now, but can't remember which one.

Will make the rounds today.

Private boxes start at $15 per month, Alana. They all pretty much charge the same price.

I've always had a P.O. Box which now runs $106.00 per year so never knew how much private boxes cost.

You have one of the larger boxes - I have the regular small one which is plenty adequate and the rate for that is now $68/year.

You can find local prices and availability and sign up here:

Do you get a senior discount at post office?

ChrisMI: Do you worry about the security of your packages? I see boxes just sitting out at Barefoot Buddha and wonder if anyone has ever just tried to pick one up and go....

East Ender, I had that concern about Barefoot Buddha.

Nope. The link I provided doesn't show Sugar Estate PO for some reason but the going rates are right there and Emancipation Gardens shows a wait list for the $68 boxes - they're likely the most popular.

EE -- you know, I get where you coming from, but I really never truly worried about it. We're probably 30-for-30 in getting our packages since switching to them in September. Also the area is watched by a BB employee - not like KMart/Home Depot security, but there was a time I had a package notice and was digging through the mail bin looking for it, and in about 30 seconds a BB employee nicely came over and asked if she could help, and also asked if I could show her my mailbox key. It made me feel better.

We pay 15/month for a small mailbox there. I figured it was big enough to hold any mail I get other than packages, which won't fit in bigger mailboxes anyway.

They don't "have to", but the 2 or 3 times a sender has forgotten to put our box number on a piece of mail they were nice enough to look it up in their records by name and wrote my box number on and I received it. Not sure if the post office would do that.

Not sure if the post office would do that.

In the years I owned a business here, I got all sorts of mail addressed to, "my name (sometimes only first name) and business name followed by St Thomas VI" and they always ended up in my USPS post box or, in the case of packages, the mail truck would stop by my business (no mailbox there) and deliver! Pretty impressive.

Many private mailbox services have opened and closed over the years but no USPS locations have closed to my knowledge. Whatever suits you and works!

Check with Sugar Estate directly to see if they have any of the smaller ones - if that location's convenient for you.

When I first moved here, the "big box" window at Sugar Estate was outside, overlooking the open area. I shipped 25 boxes and they arrived in dribs and drabs. After the second day, I would get out of the car, and by the time I got to the window, my boxes were all piled up waiting for me. I love my Sugar Estate Post Office. :@)

The Sugar Estate Post Office is next to the RLS hospital, across from the Racetrack gas station.
