After our second visit to STX, we are officially moving at the end of June beginning of July.

I have found that the Island people are much More pleasant than most of the people in South Florida. In south Florida, when you hear a horn beep it usually followed my the middle finger and someone screaming curse words at you. I F'Stead, it is someone you know doing a light tap on the horn to say hello, or a note of thank you for letting them out in front of you. Imagine, polite drivers! WOW!

I did not experience anyone on the darn cell phone while waiting in line at the grocery store! WOW!

People actually have words of greetings for you. We stopped by a local bar in F'Stead that we adore, and was talking about moving and needing an apartment. Word of mouth spreads quick. There were 3 people on the phone calling people they knew about apartments. We had one, went and looked at one that was satisfactory within 20 minutes of the conversation. That does not happen in the States folks!

On STX good people do not like you for what you have, drive or where you live. They like you and want to help you, by what you have in your heart and how you treat them.

GREAT JOB ST. CROIX.

Nice post R.

I always find it hard to verbalize our feelings and the reasons for our desire to relocate to the Caribbean to folks who've never been.

Way to put it into words 😎

I agree.. thanks for putting this into words. People ask me all the time why I want to move to STX, and I get the feeling they assume that it's for the sun, beaches, etc. Sure, all of that is nice, but like you said, that can be had in Florida... or California, or a zillion other places. STX is about the people. No one gets that unless they've been there and seen it for themselves.

Thanks Rosea for the few and far between thumbs up! It's people like you who usually make up the wonderful "melting pot" of personalities here. I'm a true-blue Cruzan...went a-wandering and came back home. May St. Croix also become YOUR home and with that said...a big fat WELCOME! Keep up the good vibes and it will be returned to you ten-fold.:-)

In reality, people in the States tend to focus on the bad, and overlook the good. If one person gets robbed in Little-ville, Idaho (fictional name!) Then "Idaho has a bad reputation for violence". All anyone has to do, is turn on the TV, violence is everywhere folks.

I did not mention that while diving a beach dive @ Butler Bay, someone broke into our car with a crowbar. They got nothing, and we were stupid to lock it. Why lock it if there is nothing in it. The have nots take from the haves no matter where you live. It did cost me several hundred dollars from the rental company to fix the door. I am in no way wealthy, or anywhere near well off, but, I learned my lesson. It does happen, but, it certainly did not change my image of St. Croix.

I hope to meet some of you on the streets of The Best Rock in US Territory!
