Good day everyone!
Well, I have gone through the process of sending my resume down to the Antillles school and the USVI Dept of Ed. I have called and expressed my interest to both those places and I still haven't heard anything.
Does anyone know of preschools that may need teachers, or a way of getting in contact with them?
I'm trying to not get discouraged, so I am trying to cover all my bases.
Any advice would be wonderful!
Thanks
Brooke

Go to the yellow pages for the usvi at http://www.viphonebook.org and search for schools, preschools... did you try All Saints or Sts. Peter and Paul for positions??? Both are parochial schools All Saints - Anglican and Sts. Peter and Paul - Catholic; but anyone can attend (if this was a concern).

Brooke: I know you have seen this again and again on this board, but your physical presence is needed to find most jobs here. And even then you may find the person in the position of hiring to be sullen and uncommunicative. For the most part the people you will work with will be welcoming and kind, but there is an atitude that pervades many of the institutions which is hostile to newcomers. Most of the preschools are associated with the private schools you have identified. Head Start is the public preschool system and quite a few of the private ones are day care, not educational. Is there any way you could come down for a week or so to do this search in person?

You could try Virgin Islands Montessori School. They have a website at www.vimontessori.org. They have a preschool and go up to the eighth grade. The teacher has to be AMI Certified but I they may need assistants, etc.

Preschools here are small and like someone else said often connected with the school - Antilles, All Saints and Montessori all have preschools. Try telephoning them during a weekday. Many of the schools offices are closed for July, then open in August.
