Do you own a house or some type of property in St Croix ? I am planning to buy a piece of land to build a home or Buy a home this Summer. I will like to hear from the existing owners from the State Side or any one else about the plus points as well as minus points of owning property in St. Croix. Thanks

Moshtak: There is a guy who puts out a newsletter for property owners (seems like mainly absentee ones) in the Virgin Islands. I can't remember the name of it, but I'll bet you could Google it!!

The Name is:

Virgin Island Newsletter for Property Owners.

www.pressenter.com

I think he presents good solid information and it is worth the subscription price.

I own a villa on the East End, and get to the island about every 6 weeks. I have had absolutely no problems that are any different than problems that I have with property I own here in Ohio. The usual requirements of maintenance, that's all. I have wonderful neighbors, a great maintenance man, a great property manager, and a wonderful housekeeper. I have no problems, love the island and love my villa.

Jennifer: My husband and I have been looking at condos on the east end of St. Thomas as an investment at first and then eventually to move to. Jennifer, if you could answer some questions for me I would be SO APPRECIATIVE!! Do you think it would be possible to buy a 2bdrm condo on the east end (like Sapphire) and rent it out enough to break even each year? Who do you use for a rental company? Who did you use as a real estate agent? Do you like them? I so much want to do this, but we're definitely not in the millionaire bracket! Thank you!

Theresa

The message to which I earlier responded related to St. Croix. That is the island on which I own a villa, not St. Thomas. I would not be able to give you any good information related to St. Thomas. Hopefully someone can respond to you who owns property on STT. Thanks

Jennifer J.

Jennifer,
What is the name of your villa? My boyfriend and I plan a couple of trips to the island to research and check things out and determine if we can afford to buy and lease until we can move permanent.
If you don't mind telling me, about what price range was your villa?

Thanks for you help
YL

If you are going to try and rent it out and break even until you can move down permanent then you had better do it on ST.Thomas. The St.Croix economy won't support your need to keep it occupied for a very long term.
