I am looking for a decent public school to send my 6 year old to, preferably somewhere that does not allow corporal punishment. We've considered Pearl B Larson but don't want to be limited to having to move east. We went into some kind of school registration office and they were no help in giving us information about all the schools. What is the school that northshore kids go to? Or any other good, diverse, openminded public school. Thank you for any information! 🙂

Have you looked into Ricardo Richards?

North shore kids use to go La Valle school, dont know if that is still open. John Woodson, and Alfredo Andrews are near , just over the hill. Ricardo Richards is considered good and also Alexander Henderson in F'sted. You want to keep to a school that is not near the projects. Just some advice.

This is a tricky, volatile question. I strongly suggest you research your options while you are on-island. Visit schools while they are in session.

There will be many changes this summer. Rumors have it several schools will close and combine with others. But no official announcement yet.

There are some more affordable private schools- St. Mary's is considerably less - just a thought! Not sure about others.
