Yearasta, I got $1,000 to donate for materials. Would you and Senator Sanes open a "let's fix our schools account? I challenge everyone on the message board to match me 10 cents on the dollar. Betty? Come on people that is 2 dinners out. We can do this. Quit bitching and do do something.

name the cleanup

STORM THE SCHOOLS
"citizens taking action"

surely the government would not get angry at the local population coming and cleaning and painting....it could be a catalyst to greater things.
get the media involved.
man i love to paint.
if i was there i would help.
i sure would.
clean it all up
top to bottom
inside and out
grounds and all....

that's the best idea i have seen yet tam.
surely no one would put protocol and length of time ahead of something like this.
it is something that could be put together and done quickly if someone would start it in earnest.
cudos to your suggestion.
it is doable.

Irjah, if you can't be here then talk to your friends, neighbors, coworkers about sending supplies or making a donation. Let's make this work. Come on people. People are dying in Iran to protest their government. All we want to do is fix up our schools.

PM me an address and I'll send you a (small) check.
If when I get back to the island this is happening I'll help.

i will get a peddlers license and make a sign....and sit outside places and "panhandle".
get it organized so that the sign can have proper credentials.
addresses and so.
non profit status is better...it can be pending.
people are more likely to donate with it being official.
how about a website....i can help you with that.
also, when i am out collecting, i will sit in front of borders with a table and box.
ones can donate books and supplies, as well as checks (i will not handle cash).
and outside lowes.....hahahaha....they can donate paintbrushes and such.
we'll figure out how to get it there after the fact.
there are ones in my town in need, and i always try to help when i can.
well st croix was my town, and i can help from afarrin (lol).
get it going and pm me the particulars.
i will get on it.
i am off for three weeks after the 24 of july.
i can roll during that time.
i think posters in improbable places about the island will garner a response.....post em everywhere.....anywhere there are parents.
BIG posters at government house stairs....at every stair facing street.....post the pics that are on the site of the bathrooms.
it may sound far fetched......but it is sooooooooo good an idea.
the government cannot stop ones from posting on grounds....nor can they stop ones from picketing.....as long as there are the proper permits in place.......
imagine a rally of parents downtown right in front of government house, every kind of parent you can think of......representing every school.
and if part of the problem is the students, then that needs to be addressed as well.
hahahahahahahahahahahah.
i can see it now.

blessings.

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones to make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We are saving our own lives
Let's make the world a brighter place
One worth living
It's true we make a better day
Just you and me
Send them your hearts
Just to know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free

I remember a radio interview a few weeks back with a school official here they were talking about cleaning up the bathrooms in Central H.S. and the fact that they DO try to clean and fix and monitor some things, but the problem is that the kids quickly trash it again. Reminded me of a gang graffiti clean up day back where we used to live. A week after the fresh coat of paint new graffiti started to appear.

So while I agree that the facilities need a makeover, or do-over as in the case of Central, the "condition" of things is merely a symptom of deeper problems which posterboards, fresh paint, and rubber gloves won't solve. Better to perform a CLEAN SWEEP of the school administrators, starting with the principals and people in charge of maintenance.

In my school we put tablecloths centerpieces napkins and place settings instead of plastic. we also played soft music. The change in the kids behavior at lunch was miraculous. No pushing or shoving no spilt foor quiet talking. And they said it could not be done!!!

I can't afford to donate money but I can help paint/clean. My only concern is that I was involved in an effort at Central High several years ago where about $20,000 was donated along with countless volunteer hours and within a couple of months the kids had trashed the school again. Not that we shouldn't try but I believe that there needs to be more than a clean/fix up effort. Somehow the kids and administrators need to be involved or it will be the same cycle all over again. Don't they have any "hall monitors" at the schools? We used to have them all over when I went to school to prevent this kind of vandalism. Are there other schools that need help too?

Senator Sammuel Sanes will be interested in a town meeting with everyone interested next week. We will be working on a time and place. Probably Chicken Charlies, Cheeseburgers or EE Pizza. Anyone have any suggestions for time and place for the meeting please let me know ASAP. Tam you got the ball rolling and we will finish it...I thank you.

make the flyers!!!!!!
POST THEM EVERYWHERE!!!!
in every store
hand em out
in the gated areas
in public housing
pass em out at the hospital.
give em to people waiting in line to pay bills.
oh JAH i wish i was there right now.
organizing is one of my strong points.....
this kind of vibe is up my alley......service.......getting ones motivated.....lawd if i had the money i would come NOW!!!
i love that island.....i am tearing up as we speak.......it took the largest part of my heart and kept it.
i will send some money (as much as i can spare) to help offset printing flyers.
just pm me your addie tami.
imperative to get them out ASAP...next week looms near......
maybe they can set the meeting for thursday or friday and that way it will give ones time to know about it.
it will be in my meditations that ones will RASPOND with right thought and action and that this will be a catalyst where community service is concerned.
from what i hear, most of the schools are in need of help.
and the youth need to be addressed too.......slackness on their parts should result in clean up duty.

HIM said that

education is the key.

HIM said that

...the solid basis for all lies in education. it is education which allows people to live together, and makes them avoid the pitfalls of immorality, and induces respect for the law. truly, the attainment of these high aims is based on education, the helping of people to live together, to avoid indulgence, immorality, and lawlessness...

...a school is to shape one's character; just as looking into a mirror could rid himself of the dirt that is on his person, likewise can one shape his character by education...

(the wisemind of Emperor Haile Selassie I)

lawd i wish i was graduated......soon though.....soon.......i am applying for every government position available........they need me.
