Hi,

does anyone know more about the passenger ferry that runs from downtown to Puerto Rico daily?
I have seen it sitting on waterfront from time to time, I think it is called carib tide or something like that.
I was told that it runs daily for $80 return but I can not seem to get find any info on it.

Thanks!
Inge

I don't know which island's downtown you're referring to but I don't think there is presently any passenger ferry service between the USVI and PR and when such ferry service existed it was once a month, not daily.

It's twice a month. You can leave here on Friday afternoon and return Saturday, Sunday or Monday morning. Inge call Transportation Services in St John to see which weekend they are doing it.

Thanks Ronnie!

I thought it was twice a week untill some puerto ricans in my store told me it was a daily service...?
I guess I will have to take the sea plane! 🙂

Inge,

When you get the low down on this ferry, please re-post your findings, I am very interested in a low budget method to get from PR to STT and return.

i was curious myself so i called.

they said it is not a regular ferry, that a trip is done once a month. the next date is december 13th that they are probably going. the fare is $125 roundtrip leaving thursday afternoon coming back sunday mid-day, going to fajado. pay $2 per carry on and $5 per piece of luggage. no bicycles or household supplies.

doesn't sound like there is much benefit to taking the ferry over the seaplane. from st. croix, it'd be cheaper to take seaplanes to/from puerto rico than ferries.

Thanks for checking, letahl. "Not regular...once a month...probably going" are about what I expected. The service is unreliable at best and I too recommend the seaplane.

Seaplane from STT to PR is between $190-220 per person RT depending on if you get a seasaver or other special fair.

I was wondering if they gave you Jan 08 schedule from St Thomas to Puerto Rico. If not do you know the number I can call to get it?
Thanks, Robin
