If you have a single mailbox in front of your house, I don't know what they do. Leave a slip, or ring your bell, or leave the package on your doorstep?

They left a slip. I would have expected they would have left it at the door (like they do state-side), but apparently not. #island-laziness.

At Barefoot, my private mailbox, they leave it. Barefoot even signs for packages, too, which is nice.

Pita. post office classifies our mailboxes in front of the house as a rural mailbox, and they will not go up to the house itself. Different category of service.

I got a private mailbox cause I wanted a perm address, no matter where I lived/moved to on island. If I settle permanently here, then I may consider cancelling it.

That idea about getting a private mailbox is a really good idea. We were thinking of just getting six month lease to start and then really looking around the island to see if we can find a place that we really like. A private mailbox would definitely make that a lot easier. Thanks again.
