Real, physical WAPA Protest STX, STT, STJ 11.09.11
From "Protest WAPA in the US Virgin Islands" on Facebook:
THE ANNOUNCEMENT: On Wednesday November 9th at 10am we will make our united voices heard. Please print out fliers and put them in as many locations as you can. We will march on The Legislature of the Virgin Islands on all 3 islands. Our core objectives can be seen in the first comment below. IF YOU DO NOT COME OUT AND PROTEST BESIDE US YOU CAN'T COMPLAIN ABOUT WAPA AGAIN. Make your signs, spread the word let's make this march HUGE! ALL AH WE!
Here's a link to more info: http://www.facebook.com/ProtestWAPA I believe you can access it even if you don't have a Facebook account.
The protest in STX is to be held at the legislature building in F'sted at #100 Lagoon Street. Lagoon Street is one block North and East of the pier. There is a large public parking lot nearby.
Seems like it's going to be hard to get a decent turn out at 10am on a Wednesday in F'sted.
We got thousands of votes for the animal shelter (a VERY worthy cause). Surely, we can get 100 people to show for this on STX. Two will come from our household! Please keep this thread near the top!
Hiya, on FB the organizers were asked why not do it on a weekend, and they pointed out that the legislative offices will be closed. I haven't checked the calendar, but I bet the Senate is in session somewhere that date/time. Russel said last night on the news that they are working on the LEAC. We need to push them to work harder and faster.
Bump.
This should be interesting. I think there are at least three protest groups planning demonstrations tomorrow. I'll be there.
