I have dealt with several different realtors in the past two years, and just wanted to give a shout out to Claudia Carrington of ReMax, STX. She has gone above and beyond. She is organized, on time, pleasant and knows her stuff. If she doesn't know, she doesn't guess. She will find out and get back to you. Hey Claudia!!!! AAAAAA++++++

This is a positive, complimentary thread. Can we just leave it at that, please!

ifonly we could leave it at that - pun intended.

Hiya's advice is very positive and could save folks from making expensive mistakes. If your promoting realtor's based on experience great, and I think it's just as important to consider what living here for a period of time (6mths) gives you. A chance to 1) adapt to island life/culture; 2) determine which neighborhood(s) you would like to live/build in; 3) see what works and doesn't work in different home designs; 4) talk to lots of residents and relator's to find the right person to work with.

Ok, ok, I don't want to keep this going. The thread is about showing appreciation for a realtor and a job well done. Neither of the 2 initial posters asked or made reference to renting vs buying in the 1st, 2nd... year. All I am saying is let the thread be about giving props to ppl that deserve it. We have tons of threads about buying vs renting, blah blah blah. If we have to start another one, well do it another an appropriate topic.

Realtor or whoever does a good job, customers are happy! Why not add your experiences of who has done a good job for you?!

You seem to know exactly what onthespot was thinking. But really everyone deserves a pat on the back for doing a good job, but who gets it, much less on a relocation board. I'd MUCH MUCH rather be thanking Miltary Service People, teacher, police, etc...

The reason to single out a realtor on a relocation board is because it's a commercial to the PERFECT target audience.

NOW THAT COULD BE CONSIDERED NEGATIVE, if you disagree! 😉

Oh, Hiya!
You say you much rather thank service people,etc... Do it here. Continue this complimentary thread. Let us know who the outstanding teachers are, the great policemen. A compliment is a commercial for anyone really. And no, I don't know or think I was pretending to know exactly what anyone was thinking. Claudia, the realtor did a great job. Mike, the plumber, came when he said he would. Ms. Ramirez, the teacher, is great with my kid. Really, is complimenting and maybe advertising for ppl that deserve it wrong?

Anywho, I'm done.

Never said there was anything wrong with complimenting people, you really are twisting my words. Trying to to take part of what I said to make yourself look more reasonable at being upset at me when I told new comers they should wait a year. Same advice most give out. Most new comers are so excited about moving here and they always feel like they have to buy for different reasons but often bad reasons. Much better to wait and see if you like the islands because most do not like it here after the honeymoon or find it too expensive or find crime too bad or miss their family or can't find decent health care, education, etc...and go back home.

As far as realtors go I still don't see the point of a thread complimenting just them, they are sales people who get a big commission when they do their job well. Most of the realtors on this island are VERY good. If you are not word gets around VERY quickly. So I'm sorry it still seems like a free ad and comes off kind like a used car salesman commercial to me. But that's IMO and everyone's got one.

I get where you are coming from Hiya. And you are 100% right about waiting to buy. Even more so with current events. And yes, word of mouth is free advertising. It is the best kind of advertising. There are always two sides to hear. Glad you are here to balance the thread. You haven't said anything wrong or mean.

Were you given praise to the local teachers & police or was that just avgeneral statement since those 2 professions always come to mind when thinking of appreciation?

Joey I'm really not sure what you are asking, feels like the question didn't come out right.

xxx, we could start a used xxx salesman appreciation thread, but then again xxx would likely contribute, and xxx could advise people to xxx. 😎

(edited to not make fun of anyone at anyone elses expense)

That's not humor that's making fun of someone at their expense.

Thanks.

The advice not to buy may be generally good but we decided last February to buy a house and move here. We couldn't be happier. We closed on our house a year ago today and moved here in November. Kim Lucas learned more about us than we knew about ourselves and found us the perfect house. Were we lucky? You bet. But having a really smart agent made us luckier.

We've had a wonderful experience with Joy Stanley on STT. She's a great buyer's agent and understood our way of negotiating the contract with the sellers agent. She worked diligently for us. Highly recommend.
