What's required to register a car with DMV in the VI--a car I buy from someone on-island, not one I ship here--if I'm only a part-time resident with no permanent address here? Do I need to have a local PO box at least to be able to register the vehicle?

Bernie,

Ask around and find a facilitator. I think we are all wary of posting this sort of thing on line (just my opinion) but if you ask around you will find someone. Also a mail service is sufficient to register a vehicle if you are doing it totally legally.

I live off island, but own a condo on St Croix. I purchased an island car from a dealer on the island. They registered and plated it for me. They required nothing special from me in the way of an island address or P.O. box. The only thing I had to give was proof of insurance.
