Hello Island Friends, I'm new on this board and you guy's seem to have informative discussions & much info. to share and hoping I can get some good advice from STX residents and others that have made the move. I have been to STX and have been researching my needs and cost of living.
Since I only need a computer & phone my business continues on. Cost of moving?, I'm not bringing much , my bags, a few personal things, computer.......Looking for condo for rent or purchase....or rental to start....nothing fancy...I'm presently single, so do not need much...

Thanks

It's difficult to tell you how much it will cost to move your personal belonging to STX without knowing exactly how much "stuff" you have. Obviously you can bring some luggage with you on the airplane and, if you wish, pay them for any extra over your alloted baggage limit. Check your airline of choice's website for more information. Regarding the rest. if it's really a small amount that you can pack it in boxes you can send it by US Postal Service. You can go to their website for information regarding box size limitations and cost. Figure out how much the postage might be and compare it to the cost of using a Freight Forwarder like Tropical Shipping. They are good when shipping larger quantities of goods. Go to their website for more information. Generally speaking the cost will depend on the overall cubic footage you ship.

Lastly, read through the archives on this forum and the material on the Relocation website for information how best to move your goods and for data on cost of living.

Thanks for that info... but I'm past the general moving and bringing an auto and how to ship.. I'm way past that research.and cost of moving.....The part I'm asking about, ( Sorry if I was not clear ) , is the cost of living when I get there, I'm looking for contacts living there that can give me advise on living quarters..I would like to rent to start, then move on to a condo..and I am asking where to go, what the cost are in an efficiency or a one bedroom rental? Thanks again
