I don't want to "tag on" and re-pull this whole long post; but basically we discussed weather you really had to get a VI drivers license within 90 days....
Well, yesterday one of us (who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty) got pulled over by the VI police for not having a seat belt on. While writing out the ticket 🙁 he asked to see the vehicle registration. Since it showed we had purchased the vehicle 6 months ago he wanted our VI License -yikes- never got it. He was kind enough to let it slide, but said he could have also wrote a ticket for that, too. You do have 90 days to get a VI License, and I guess situations like that are how they would know you are still driving on a stateside license.
So, I guess we go for eye exams this week....
anyone know cheap eye exams on STX ?

Yes, but couldn't you own a home and car on St. Thomas but only visit there 2 months out of the year? I mean if you had enough money you could do that. So why not just say that you're only there 2 months out of the year?

I'm having the same thought process as swhitey. (Though, I am in no way implying that "thought" would actually go into any guidelines having to do with bureaucracy.) We've got a home on WI and a registered vehicle....but, we are not there most of the time. So, I suppose that would be our (true) story if we were ever stopped and hope they believe us.

Twindomes and Travelwoman...either you are too honest or you didn't think quickly enough!

I hear tell that if you go to Pearle and tell them nothing else is wrong with you, they can fill out the whole physical. Don't know that to be fact...and I never said it if anyone asks. 🙂

Last person I talked to that got a license has been here over a year - he and his wife spent three full days running here and yon across STX to get everything required...somehow, that takes a little out of the spirit of going with the VI license, doesn't it? The upside is that the license was VERY pretty....

I went to the clinic in F'sted for my physical, which included the eye exam. I think it was $15 a person to have them take your blood pressure, weight and measure you, have you fill out a 1-page medical history, do a slap dash exam with an eye chart... and you were on your way.

Rule # 1 in the VI- ALWAYS wear your seat belt! That was what caused your entire problem! 😉
