Hi All,

Which months is it easiest to find an apartment (and hopefully a better deal) and which are the peak rental months?

Thanks so much,
Marley

Hello Marley,

Which island are you moving to?

Generally speaking high tourist season (December through May) brings an influx of seasonal workers so finding an apartment is often more difficult as far as many options/better price in that period, but it varies by island.

Thanks Islander-

I will be moving to St. Thomas in December but I think you answered my question. It sounds like I will probably be paying more when I look for an apartment in December/January.

Hello Marley,

I don't think landlords jack up their prices in December per se, but because there is more demand for apartments places get filled so you find fewer availabilities and because the market is good few landlords are willing to bargain with their set rental fee and give you a better price. December is the beginning of season you should be able to find various apartment options and you should still try and negociate, worse that can be said is no.

Coming Down - it can be easier because seasonal workers have gone back to the states/home so there are more openings. Cheaper depends on if the landlord wants to negociate their price.
