Residential STX Question

We want to go looking for a house to rent this weekend (checking out places we like). My question is this: Is it okay for us to drive up the hills to see the houses on the hills, or are they private drives for the residents only? Also, on those hill roads, is it safe to drive a Ford Taurus up there, or do you need 4wd? Some of those hills look darn steep!

We are in a condo right now, and I am not crazy about it. There is one house that looks good in Sion Hill, but I am unsure about the safety of that area (I would be alone with the littles most of the days) so we are going to go drive around to get a feel for the areas East of CSted. If anyone knows of a house for rent that way, please let me know : )

Thanks
Brandy

Hello Brandy,

Sure you can drive around. If there is a private property sign or gate of course respect it and turn around. You can sort of tell what is a driveway and what is the estate road for accessing driveways. You might take a map with you and jot down notes on the map of areas you like. Also it will make it easier for you to share your feedback on the areas you saw with us. 🙂

A few of the roads out east are dirt roads that lead to residences once you get off the main road, just don't go on those if they seem bumpy and appear as if you'd need 4wd. Otherwise you should be fine.

Take a few bottles of water, snacks with you - particularly if you are going all the way east just to explore as there isn't much in the line of restaurants or groceries. Enjoy. Lots of beautiful views out that way.
