STX is the only Virgin Island technically surrounded entirely by the Caribbean Sea.
Charter, or get a boat, and less than a mile out of Christiansted Harbour your in 6000' to 12000' of water. Mahi, Wahoo, ect, just waiting for a baited hook.

RE: Fishing.

I'm glad to hear that "surf casting" and onshore fishing is somewhat productive. I have large surfcasting rods & reels that I have used up in NY, NJ and Cape Cod. I'm sure I'll get acclimated and check out the local shops for advice on bait & tackle. Thanks!

Think you might find fishing slightly different here.
Especially if planning on doing it from shore.
Our islands are fished out unless you know where to go, what to do.
Surf casting won't result in dinner unless you can find a good spot for Snook on flats and you're fishing for the enjoyment of catch and release.
Off shore is a different story but it'll cost you.

Get SCUBA certified and go get as much Lionfish as you want from shore dives. You'll need a buddy. Just make sure you learn how to prepare it properly so you don't kill yourself.
