The question is how good of shape is it in mechanically? If you know it's in good shape, then the question becomes - can I repalce it in USVI for the $2000 + or _ it will cost to get it there? Or a total of about $7000?
I've just shipped my 1985 Bronco II because I know the mechanical condition. I figured it would cost between $8000 and $10,000 to get a trouble free car. I have friends that bought a $5000 Jeep that has been nothing but trouble and a $1500 island car that has been no trouble. So you just never know. Since you are relying on it for work, can you afford to be without it while it's being repaired?

We JUST moved a Taurus to Stx from Florida: Shipping was $1465, Road Tax was .16 per lb., excise tax was $265, Moving permit was $5 and then we had to register it. Don't know how much that cost because I had to go to work while my wife did the running around. Also plan on at least a day to run around for all the permits and taxes and don't go to get the moving permit at the DMV after 3--they were gone by then!
Hope this helps!

You might want to scan the Island Trader or Classifieds in the Virgin Ilands Daily News to see if you can even find something comparable, and if so, how much are they asking. There are quite of few 3/4 ton long beds on the island because of the safari taxis, but will you find one for sale and what shape will it be in?
