I am moving to STX the end of january and have gotten quotes for shipping my Jeep wrangler...the lowest is $3,500!!!! This is outrageous, even the allied rep thought so. This quote was from Shipping from VA. I am wondering what shipping companies are out there who may be cheaper... I am sending everything else USPS

Is is significantly cheaper to ship directly from Miami? Is so it might be worth a roadtrip...

Is this quoted price the usual ballpark figure?

What are 2001 Jeep Wrangler/Soft Tops/AC, 5 speed, 90,000 miles going for there? Maybe it's cheaper to sell mine and buy another?

thanks in advance!

Got a good quote from will@worldmovingservices.com. 2500 Buffalo NY to STT. This was for a Mustang for Jan 2008 delivery. Hope this helps.

I shipped my C-RV from Ft. Lauderdale back in Sept for under $1100 using Crowley.

Island grace,

Think long and hard about shipping your jeep, its not just the shipping charge there are taxes to be paid once you arrive, quoted from the home page

:Things to think about when deciding whether to bring your car to the Virgin Islands with you.
Decide whether your car is worth enough to spend the money to transport it to the islands. If it’s not worth it then sell it in the states and buy a car when you get here.
You must have either the title for your car or a notarized letter indicating why you don't have the title and usually permission from the person/lender that does indicating that you are allowed to transport the vehicle off the mainland. You should ask the shipping company you are using for more details as their required letters, documents and number of notarized copies may vary.
Main roads are paved. There are some residences with dirt driveways.
Roads on St. Thomas & St. John are steep and curvy. (You’ll need a sturdy engine. Good Brakes.) St. Croix has more flat areas but also has some steep roads.
It is hot here. (You’ll need a good cooling system and AC if you want comfort.)
Can you get parts for your car here?
Salt in the air is hard on cars.
There are several taxes you will pay to bring a car into the territory.

In the latest edition the Island trader newspaper there were several jeep wranglers of various years, I noticed two 2003s one for 9500. one for 9000.

I used Crowley as well and had a good experience. you can also try www.tropicalshippers.com

good luck with your move.

Peter

Thanks for the info. If I could buy a wrangler for under 9,000 on the island then I would...becausei t would be cheaper than the payoff and shipping combined. I have already made sure that it will pass inspections and I live in the Mountains here, so it's good with steep hills. Jeeps are usually easy to fix with basic parts....I just dumped alot of money on brakes, new clutch and tires...so the good thing is that I know what I have and exactly what's been fixed.....I also don't know if I have time to sell why I'm here.....errr...what an overwhelming over!
