We are leaving for STT on 12/30 to stay at condo we own on the East End. We have often thought of going to STX to look at property there..........so our trip just got extended for 3 additional nights. However, our cond is rented out the day we were supposed to leave.
Any suggestion on a place to stay on STX for 1/13-1/15 leave on the 16th. We would like to expericence as much of the "local flavor" as much as possible to decide if we would like to buy on STX in the future. Also any local restaurants, bars, etc. recommended?

Warm regards,
Steve

I might have a room available that time period. I can let you know soon. Bedroom w/ house privileges on STX near Hovensa/Peters Rest/Sunny Isle/South Shore.

If you do come to STX, contact Alexandra. She is a poster on this board, and IMHO, is the best realator to use.

If it is only for three days, and as word has it that the hotels are all booked, you might wan to conact Villa Morales. It is towards the west end , but it does have food and bar on premises, the owners are the salt of the earth kind of people, and I am sue the rooms are spotless at a reasonable rate.

Just a suggestion. I also rent efficienies and an apartment, but am all booked for that time period of time.

Best wishs,

Dan

Villa Morales is owned by wonderful people and their food is incredible and their room rates are very cheap however, they have no phone no tv and i believe no ac which is why the rate is cheap 🙂 Which is doable for 3 day well all expect the part with no ac (for me at least). And its not towards west end it is west end 😉

We're having a house built in STX and the bank, as a requirement for the loan, asks us to secure BR insurance.
If the builder is already covered by his own insurance why do we need additional?
Thanks,
PT

another good short-term option to try if they have space available for your dates is www.villamargarita.com
This is a waterfront guest house at Salt River. Instead of Bed and Breakfast, they do Bed and Happy Hour. The owners are very welcoming and can answer a lot of questions about living on the island to help with your investigations of livability. You can email or call them from their website to check availability. If you'd like an island and property tour while you are here, I can block out some time for you. If you already have a Realtor, that's fine, too. I hope you enjoy your side trip to STX!
