I lost my social security card years ago and have never replaced it because every HR dept I have been associated with accepts a Passport in lieu of two form of ID. Is this the case in St. Thomas or should I replace my physical SScard before coming down?

We use a standard I-9 form. I do not have one handy but if you look it up on irs.gov I believe a passport is admissable as one item for Column A. You can also use a birth cerfiticate or voters registration card for HR if another form is needed.

They ask for it at the hospital when you are applying for a food handlers certificate which you need if you will be waiting tables or bartending. And, actually and SS card is not to be used as an ID! It's very easy to get. Just go to a SS office and ask.
