Did anyone see this article: https://stthomassource.com/content/2018/03/25/medicaid-registrations-way-up-in-territory/ ? They claim Medicaid numbers have gone from 8000 to 25,000 and they plan on enrolling 50,000. All on the federal government's tab.

This is nothing new. In 2013 the VI Dept of Health Implemented Medicaid Expansion instead of participating in the Affordable Care Act Exchange Program. The Source covered it then, https://stthomassource.com/content/2013/10/30/dhs-commissioner-details-medicaid-expansion-s-second-phase/ Then Commissioner Finch expected over 30,000 VI citizens to be enrolled. Finch was quoted, "With the second phase of the Medicaid expansion, the V.I. Department of Human Services aims to maximize federal dollars by making as many Virgin Islanders as possible Medicaid-eligible, according to Human Services Commissioner Christopher Finch.

In an interview Monday, Finch said the department’s goal is to, as quickly and sensibly as it can, “cover the people who right now have no health security at all.”

In Aug. 2013, Human Services announced the first phase of the Medicaid expansion that the territory selected over health insurance exchanges."

I know it has been going on for a while. I am amazed that they got the Feds to take on 100% of the cost. Providers are reimbursed a smidgen of their costs. The recipient pays no co-pay. And the people stateside, who don't receive any services, get to pay for it all.
