Good afternoon board. As we all know, it is often very expensive to go out to eat and drink in the islands. I am here by myself, and enjoy going out to different places to experience different types of cuisine. I am also getting tired of spending $15-$20 on every, frequently humble, meal. With the help of fellow board posters, I am hoping to compile a varied list of inexpensive locations and daily food and drink specials. I have found a couple so far, but I would love to see many, many more. Thank you for your time.
LaRaine Chicken Shack: $6 for half chicken and 2 Johnny Cakes (not sure if this is a permanent price)
Pickled Greek: $5 gyros Saturdays starting at 4 until ?
Brew Pub: 2 for Tuesday, 2 beers for the price or 1
Deep End: Happy Hour, $2 domestic bottles

I know "Luncheria" has a few items... The same goes with "Miriam's" which has Wednesday's Taco Specials... Sorry I don't have the details but I am sure someone will fill in the blanks...
P.S. I don't know if the new owners for the China Jade still have the $5 option... or if their food is still any good...

This is a good topic, with some helpful comments. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I will be doing a PMV to STX next month and am looking to try as many little local eateries and dive bars as I can without breaking the bank.
Also, if anyone wants to let me in on their secret of the best place to eat a decently priced dinner and watch the sunset I would greatly appreciate it.

The chicken shack meal is $6.50 now and fantastic.
Maria's Cantina has a pick two for $8.00 - my favorite on their menu.
El Sol grilled chicken is $15 but is enough for two meals.
The Bistro soup is always good - only $5 and add a bread bowl for $2.50 (if you are into that), they also have a pick two for $10.50.

Miriam's $2 tacos is great as is chicken shack. Also spicy Grill which has similar fair as chicken shack

I checked with Lenny at the Luncharia. They have 2 tacos for $3 on Thursdays from 5-9. They also have $1.50 margaritas all the time. I didn't ask, but I assume would be small versions from the frozen slurpee machine

Turtles Deli - HUGE sandwiches, easily enough for two people or two meals. I love the beast... I forgot the price, maybe $12 so $6 per person.
wcpalmer; Best sunset dinner? Get it to go and have it on the beach of your choice. I like the beach by Coconuts for that. I miss STX lol... need to come over soon. 🙂
