St Croix St Patricks Day Parade

We are just home from two marvelous weeks on the island and again attended the St. Patrick's Day parade. It was great, as always, so thanks to InnatPelicanHeights and the other volunteers who make this fun event happen. We love seeing tourists, snowbirds and residents enjoying the fun and get the biggest kick out of running into people we have met over the years.

The idea of a family section makes a lot of sense as clearly many families attend. And while the atmosphere is crazy (in a fun way), I don't find the drinking at the parade to be out of control. We always just spend a couple of hours there and then go back to the hotel as I don't need to see the afternoon partying.

My only suggestion would be to try to keep the teenaged groups who march in the parade from openly drinking as they march. There was one group of dancers who were all drinking something as they marched and we all thought they looked underaged. That doesn't send a great message to the kids in attendance. But I realize that would be hard to police.

Thanks, again, for adding to our STX experience!

remember 18 is the legal drinking age and a lot of 18 year olds look much younger.

You haven't spent enough time on the islands to experience the serious alcohol problem down there.
