Hello,

I would say contact the folks you know and see if they can keep an eye on apartment availabilities for you, ask them if you can stay at their place for a few days... weeks while you find work/apartment. Finding apartments are tough when not on island as the main sources for finding them are classifieds in newspapers, posts on bulletin boards, word of mouth and signs on driveways.

What type of work?

Thanks for the advice...im am planning on coming down in august to try and get an apartment...and i told all my friends to keep their eyes and ears open....as for work probably the service industry since 2 of the people manage a restaurant at home and the others just finished college with accounting degrees,(allthough we are going to contact the accountants on the island too 😉

How much would "name dropping" help when calling about apartment...the people i know are all well known and respected in the community.
thanks

Hello Maynegurl,

Not sure if the name dropping will help with apartments... if someone has no availabilities they have none... if they do have and you have the money to pay for it well then they'd be interested. 😉

Now in the job world you could use name dropping and say So and So suggested I come by if the people are well known like you said.
