I was wondering if someone could tell me if there is a Starbucks on any of the USVI islands. I went to Starbucks.com but did not see a listing. I could have sworn there was one there....I am not a fan of their coffee, its just that I am trying to talk my sister into moving with me and she said she would if she could transfer to a Starbucks in the VI, as she is currently working for them. Thank you. -Lisa

No Starbucks, and no plans in corporate for any in the VI anytime soon. Beans, Bytes and Websites downtown Charlotte Amalie will be one of your favorite hangouts if you are addicted to Starbucks. Not exactly the same, but close enough after you have been on island awhile.

Starbucks is like the "Empereor's New Cloths". The coffee is not that good, and overpriced. But everyone is afraid to say so because the Yuppie heard has declared that it's wonderful. They took mediocure coffee, added code words for ordering to give the illusion of being hip, put out some overstuffed chairs and Presto! a new fad. No thanks. Give me Dunkin' Donuts coffee anyday.
I guess that Starbucks appeals to the St John crowd.

Bassman, although I wasn't promoting Starbucks per se, you should try Barnies inside the Subways at Buccaneer Mall, then you might change your tune on Starbucks! LOL. Mary at Beans Bytes and Websites will give you an earful as to why their coffe is better than Starbucks as well. I heard that DD has good coffee, and is in fact one of the largest sellers of coffee. What about the new Juan Valdez coffee shops? Maybe they will open in the VI.

Well Ed, I'll be on STT in about 2 weeks and I'll have to try the brew at Beans and Bytes. I'll post the results of the taste test when I get home unless I can log on there.

There is a new coffee shop I think in Times Square in STX.

Dear Lisa Danford

I am not sure why you posted a tax refund question on a Starbucks coffee thread, but here is my answer.

Star"bucks" coffee is overpriced and as others have pointed out, no better than dozens of other coffee places. So why spend more for less?

TAXES are of course overpriced and as others have "pointed out"...Give you little for your dollar...Most advise..Don't overpay so you will not have to worry about a refund.

The USVI government is notorious when it comes to SLOW refunds of tax overpayments. In the past it was months...even years...before people received their tax refund check for over payment of taxes.

Recent years have shown some improvement. BUT...Don't any plans that depend on getting your tax check.

uuhhhh... I didn't see a tax question on this thread. I did see that all the posts had been marked as "unread" when I logged on today. Maybe there was a glitch somewhere.

Ed,
I think the answer to the comment about tax refunds can be found in the posters handle, "oldguy". No offence intended to our seniors and I include myself. It just happens.
There was another thread about refunds.
